Pecans, Native and Improved

The farm is located in the major pecan-production region of Central Texas and has a number of Native and Improved pecan trees. As with all pecan varieties, these produce nuts prolifically only every other year. Productivity is decreased in years in which a late cold snap destroys the newly-emerging blossoms and in times of drought.

The Native pecans are smaller but said to be more flavorful.

The Improved varieties are larger and meatier.

As with all production on the farm, these trees are not subjected to pesticides, synthetic fertilizers, or any other non-NOP approved substances.
